The John Butler House Bed & Breakfast

Our modest country home has been furnished for a comfortable stay in the Elizabeth Township (or Greater Pittsburgh) area.

The house is located beside the 18th green at Butler's Golf Course, but you don't have to be a golfer to stay here and enjoy the scenery!

We can accommodate up to eight guests in our four bedrooms, each with its own bath. The first and second floors each have two bedrooms - one with twin beds and the other with a double.

All guests are welcome to enjoy cable television in the living room, games in the sunroom, hot coffee in the morning room, or fresh air on the deck. 

Scrumptious, generous breakfasts are served on Saturday & Sunday just a quick walk away, in our restaurant, the Rock Run Inn, until 11:30am. Because the restaurant is so handy, we don't provide any foods at the B&B, except for coffee. In winter, the restaurant may be closed, so we are happy to make other arrangements.

If you want to golf during your stay, we will be happy to reserve starting times for you. You can make the arrangements when you reserve your room.

Local Information

Our location is fairly rural, yet we are close to many activity centers. Our immediate area features a hike/bike trail (Yough River Trail) along an undeveloped and residential section of the Youghiogheny (say "Yock-uh-gain-ee") River, a working exhibit farm, and several golf courses and family restaurants.

Downtown Pittsburgh is just 45 minutes away to our north, Fallingwater and Ohiopyle State Park are less than an hour-and-a-half to our southeast, and there are two major malls within a half hour of us.

We also have many brochures and maps available at the B&B.

Things To Do:
Yough River Trail We're one mile from the Buena Vista access to the hike/bike/horse trail. Buenie to Boston is very scenic. Visit youghrivertrail.com
Canoe & Bicycle Trips Burke-Lee's, in Boston, PA, rents canoes for float trips. They'll drive you to a starting spot, and you finish right back in Boston. They and River City Junction also rent bikes.
Round Hill Park & Exhibit Farm Picnic groves and barns & fields with farm animals. An Allegheny County Park. It's about 10 minutes away.
Court Time Sports Center Indoor basketball, soccer, dodgeball -- open play, leagues, birthday parties. 5 minutes from Butler's.

Check Availability

For standard reservations, phone reservations are held for seven days pending receipt of the first night's deposit. We accept checks and Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and Diners Club. The balance will be due upon arrival. If you should find it necessary to cancel, one week's notice is necessary to receive a full refund. If you cancel less than seven days ahead, we can only refund if we can re-book the room. Check-in time is 3pm and check-out is by 11am. Additional policies apply for golf getaways, due to tee time scheduling.

  • Pets are not permitted, but there is a kennel nearby.
  • Smoking is reserved for outside on the porches.
  • Telephone, microwave, toaster, refrigerator, and dishwasher are available for your use in the kitchen, though the only food item we keep in the house is coffee.
  • Hair dryers are provided in each bath.
  • An iron and ironing board are also available.
  • An air conditioning control is located on each floor. The thermostat for all heat (radiators) is located on the ground floor.
